Based on the traditional Japanese fish prints called “gyotaku” and the infamous squids in the Super Mario Bros. games named Blooper. It's name in Japanese is “Gesso”. The text is from the Japanese instruction manual for Super Mario Bros. It reads:
“A guardian that relentlessly pursues Mario. You cannot jump on top of it.”
