Hello Nakatomi Peoples!
Produced under agreement with the Wrightson estate, the newest release in our ongoing Bernie Wrightson Artist Edition series of prints will be available HERE in the Nakatomi store on Wednesday 6/5.
“ALONE” is a first-time entry into the Artist Edition series, and has been out of print since 2014.
Originally drawn in the late 70’s early 80’s, Bernie’s Frankenstein illustrations were (and remain) at the height of fantasy pen-and-ink illustrations. Highly regarded, often imitated, but never surpassed, Wrightson’s work here is a triumph.
“Alone” was created for, but never included in the original publication of the Frankenstein book. Reproduced from a scan of the original art board, provided by film director, Frank Darabont– this print gives the viewer a glimpse into the work of a master.
From the hand-drawn borders to the yellowed-by-age copyright paste up in the bottom right, this is as close as anyone can come to owning the original. Unique to this piece, is that it features two signatures, the original “Wrightson” on the bottom right, as well as his full signature- placed on the art board when it was sold to a collector. There was a debate whether or not to remove it from this printing, but the goal of the artist’s edition is to present the original art as it exists.
Hand-numbered and embossed in the bottom corner with Bernie’s distinctive “W”, this edition is limited to 300 copies worldwide. Prints measure 12 x 18″. Printed on archival acid free 100% cotton rag natural white paper, with archival inks, produced in-house at the Nakatomi Print Labs. Prints will ship within two weeks of the release date.
Prints will be available at 2pm Central time in the Bernie Wrightson section of the Nakatomi store HERE on Wednesday June 4th.
Prints will retail at $50 each.
And make sure you follow the official Bernie Wrightson account on Instagram for more great art from his LONG career!
Note– as usual, the artist’s share of the proceeds from this sale will go to Liz Wrightson.
Thank you-
